Intern With Lisa!
The Office of State Representative Elizabeth "Lisa" Hernandez's internship program offers interns hands-on experience in state government while inspiring the next generation of public servants. Interns will develop valuable professional skills, gain insight into legislative processes, and contribute to our office’s mission of serving the community. They will work closely with our district team to support individuals, families, and community partners. Qualified candidates should have strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a passion for public service. Internships are only offered during the summer.
Internship Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Research and analyze bills, ordinances, and other types of legislation

Draft policy memos and background on policy topics

Attend meetings, hearings, and other public policy-related events

Respond to constituent inquiries via phone or email

Help plan and staff community events
-
Distribute flyers and other materials in the district

Update and maintain our District directory

Assist in recruitment of volunteers

Design and draft social media posts
Internship Requirements
-
Be a high school senior, college student, or recent college graduate
-
Interest in public service, politics, public policy or community organizing
-
Strong preference for applicants from the district (2nd Illinois House District)
-
Bilingual language skills highly preferred (Spanish & English)

Canadiates must be avalible to work part time, Monday to Friday
